I think we all have those moments when we feel alone–like we have been abandoned to our circumstances and there’s no way out. Remember that God is with you–through unfair hardships, unjust treatment, personal feelings of disappointment and hopes dashed, He is with you. Just like in the life of Joseph, God will extend kindness and graciousness right into your hardship. It is in those tough situations or during intense feelings when we often see more of God than when we are flying over pastures on our own accord–with a dependence and a peace that can enable us to soar even higher than we can in our humanness, in our own strength. “The Lord was with Joseph and he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master. When his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD gave him success in everything he did, Joseph found favor in his (his master’s) eyes and became his attendant.” Gen 39:3-4 God still has a purpose for you even in the difficult moments of the day or in those longer seasons of suffering. May you find His favor–and the richness of His company, all the way through.
We are all feelings-based, Alexis, you are SO not alone in that! IT is hard to let go of the familiar even when something better is around the bend–I think that is where our faith comes into play; believing in God’s unseen plans for us (unseen on our end, not His! 🙂 ) Yes, Joseph is a beautiful example of pushing on instead of getting trapped in the circumstances of what was happening to him, and all unfair and unjust, but as you said, he pushes on and trusts God every step of the way, remaining faithful in his attitude and responses. May it be for you (and all of us!) as well. 🙂
